When you come aboard the M/V Bella Desgagnés you’re setting off on a voyage of discovery where you’ll experience firsthand the little-known coast. The Bella is not a conventional ship because she was specially designed and equipped to provide maritime transport services for Anticosti Island and the Lower North Shore. The ship completes a seven-day circuit from Rimouski to Blanc-Sablon. Its primary mission is to safely transport cargo by sea in order to meet the needs of the communities it serves, while giving passengers and tourists the chance to experience sailing on a mixed passenger-cargo vessel against a stunning natural backdrop.
We are very proud to welcome you aboard this safe and comfortable 6,655 ton passenger-cargo ship. She has eight decks and can accommodate 420 people, including 39 crew members and 381 passengers (with cabin space for 160). The Bella Desgagnés sails at a cruising speed of 12.5 knots. She is equipped with a 40 tonnes capacity crane and an Ice Class rating of 1 AFS. In addition, to improve ship, container, and cargo stability, anti-roll tanks were installed to transfer water back and forth between the port and starboard ballast water tanks as needed during loading.
Lastly, the Bella Desgagnés is also equipped with structural features designed to mitigate noise and vibrations, as well as stabilizers to improve passenger comfort in choppy sea conditions.
