Understanding alternative transportation for residents
If the Bella Desgagnés is unable to serve a destination port due to bad weather, a breakdown or an inaccessible port, residents who have purchased a ticket will be eligible to travel to their destination via air transport, at no additional cost.
A resident is: An inhabitant of L’Île-d’Anticosti, Kegaska, La Romaine, Harrington Harbour, Tête-à-la-Baleine, La Tabatière, Saint-Augustin or Blanc Sablon.
Rules and operation
- To be entitled to alternative transportation in the case of port hopping, resident-customers must have booked their passage at least 24 hours before the ship’s scheduled passage to the port of departure.
- Cars are not included in alternative transportation. Only passengers will be offered the option of air travel. Cars in the case of port hopping will be transported on another trip.
- Animals cannot be transported by air.
- The customer will receive an e-mail confirmation from Relais Nordik advising that he/she is eligible for alternative transportation. It is then up to the customer to contact Air Liaison to book the air transportation, which will involve the same port of destination as the sea ticket.
- The customer must book and travel before the next passage of the ship in the same direction of the skipped port.
- The customer may not contact the airline directly without receiving confirmation of eligibility from Relais Nordik.
- If a resident is traveling with a non-resident, only the resident passenger will be entitled to alternative transportation.
- Excess baggage that may be charged by the carrier.
