Although the Bella Desgagnés is first and foremost a cargo ship, the comfort of our passengers is not neglected, and that’s why we count on a catering service that will charm you. On the menu: seafood from the Lower North Shore and succulent meats. The menu can be adapted for vegetarians, food intolerances and allergies (on request).
The Dining Room
The main dining room of the Bella Desgagnés is open for all three meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner – with the exception of the first evening’s departure from Rimouski. As the dining room’s capacity is limited, meal times are always divided into two fixed-hour services, service 1 and service 2.
– Breakfast: Service 1 at 7 a.m. and service 2 at 8 a.m.
– Lunch: Service 1 at 11:30 a.m. and service 2 at 12:40 p.m.
– Dinner: Service 1 at 5 p.m. or service 2 at 6:45 p.m.
For logistical reasons, you must arrive at the agreed meal time. After this time, you can still have a complete meal in the cafeteria with : soup, main course, dessert and beverage. Similarly, if you’ve missed a meal due to a stopover, the cafeteria will welcome you.
How are meal times allocated?
Meal times are assigned according to cabin type. Only customers who have reserved a Select, Panoramic, or a Select Plus cabin will be able to request service 1 or service 2 at the time of reservation. Once the hours have been allocated to customers with priority of choice, the reservations team will allocate all other reservations between services 1 and 2 to balance the 50% proportion between the two services. An allocated service remains the same for the entire trip, which means that it is not possible to take service 1 one day and service 2 the next.
When booking, it’s important to mention your service preference, even if you have a Standard or Superior cabin. If, at first, your preference may not be taken into account, we will check preferences when changes are made and it is possible that your preference will be taken into account at a later date. Up until boarding, we may make changes to meal times in order to balance the two services.
The cafeteria
Open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., our large cafeteria, which can accommodate 112 people at a time, takes over from the dining room, which means you can have a meal there in place of the one offered in the dining room. If you miss your meal in the main restaurant because of a stopover or an extended rest in your cabin, the cafeteria quickly becomes your choice. With your package, you can replace a meal in the restaurant with a meal in the cafeteria. We offer a full table d’hôte for lunch and dinner in a more relaxed atmosphere. You can also opt for something quicker like a poutine, guédille, hot dog…etc. Beer and wine are also available for consumption on site.
If you’re an early riser, we offer free coffee before cafeteria hours to get your day started. This is also where you’ll find vending machines available 24 hours a day.
